Another Sybase Australia chief quits

Sybase has lost its third Australian managing director in as many years, with Kip Cole resigning suddenly last week to join Cisco Systems.

It is understood Cole will assume the Cisco marketing director's role left vacant by Anne Strachan - who has been promoted to an Asia Pacific role - on 1 November.

Adam Johnson, general manager of Sybase's New Zealand operations, will now also be responsible for the Australian subsidiary.

Cole took the top job at Sybase Australia after Alan Jervis was made redundant in February 1998, following just nine months as managing director.

Jervis had replaced Gary Jackson, who also defected to Cisco.

Neither Cole nor Johnson could not be contacted prior to deadline.
