Vodafone Australia and Ue Comm (formerly United Energy Telecommunications), have signed a $20 million network access deal expanding their already existing partnership.
Under the new five-year deal, Ue Comm will provide Vodafone with additional access to its fibre optic networks in Sydney and Melbourne.
A $14 million agreement, signed last July, already gives Vodafone access to Ue Comm's fibre networks in other parts of Sydney and Melbourne.
According to Andrew Bissex, Vodafone's managing director, the expansion of Ue Comm's network was an important factor in securing the new deal.
"Customer demand and growth had encouraged Vodafone to seek a reliable partner in Ue Comm, which not only has bandwidth capacity, but also the ability to provide real-time monitoring, maintenance and the capacity to accommodate additional growth," Bissex said.
Vodafone has the option to extend the agreement for a further four, five-year periods.
