VACC awards multimillion network contract to Primus

The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) has commissioned Primus Telecom to build its multimillion dollar commercial data network.

Entitled 'The Automated and Related Industries Network' (ARIN), the network will deliver information services and e-commerce capabilities to VACC's 4000 members, and a further 16,000 businesses in Australia.

ARIN will deliver online vehicle parts selection and buying services, as well as a content service offering advice and technical publications to members.

The network will be launched in the fourth quarter of 1999, with additional capability to be rolled out throughout 2000.

Primus will work with Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, Com Tech and Colonial Bank to deliver ARIN.
