SPSS buys Integral, boosts data mining

Data-mining and business intelligence software vendor SPSS has bought Integral Solutions (ISL) for $US7.1 million.

SPSS announced the acquisition in a statement yesterday. The deal was finalised last Thursday, SPSS said. ISL, based in Basingstoke, UK, in makes Clementine, a corporate data-mining system for which the company also provides training.

The two companies have worked together since March of last year on an interface between their products. The interface, available now, allows a data link between Clementine and SPSS for Windows. SPSS said today that it will continue development of CHESS, the Clementine High Efficiency Scaleable Server, a program that applies Clementine's interactive and visual data mining approach to large data sets.
