Keycorp bags TABLink cards jackpot

NSW gaming organisation TAB has signed an agreement with e-commerce and smartcard company Keycorp for the supply of gaming machine interface cards (GMICs) to its TABLink statewide betting network.

Under the arrangement, Keycorp will design and manufacture the interface units which will be installed in gaming machines across the state. The first GMICs are due to be delivered in the second quarter this year, with the remainder due to arrive during the next three years.

The GMIC uses Keycorp-developed smartcard technology to encrypt information transferred between gaming machines and the TAB's central monitoring system. With a secure network in place, TAB hopes to be able to remotely monitor the operation of gaming machines and also hopes this will also allow it to offer a statewide jackpot in pubs and registered clubs across the country.
