The Victorian Department of Education has chosen Xircom's RealPort Ethernet 10/100 Integrated PC cards to support the communications needs of its teachers.
In the deal, Xircom will supply the Education Department with up to 37,000 PC cards over five years for its Acer notebook PCs.
According to Paul Doherty, IT manager for the Victorian Department of Education, it selected the Xircom solution because it meets the department's requirements for "compatibility, reliability, and total cost of ownership", officials said.
"With no external dongles to break or lose, the Xiron Real Port Ethernet 10/100 Integrated PC cards are not only easier to use, they lower our total cost of ownership," Doherty said.
"The adapters' built-in connectors and high performance Ethernet technology provide our teachers with simple and reliable connections to the local area network, so they can spend less time with technical support and more time with students."
