Novell offers a boost to user Y2K efforts

Novell last week moved to aid its users' Y2K preparation efforts announcing a suite Y2K-ready products and Y2K updates and tools downloadable from Novell's Web site.

Available at www.novell.com/year2000, Novell offers more than 90 products and updates it reports are designed to identify and fix Y2K problem areas.

Eric Schmidt, Novell's chairman and CEO boldly asserted in a statement: "Novell will be taking more networks into the 21st century than any other company; being year 2000 ready isn't a question, it's a given."

The company's NetWare and Novell Directory Services already offer users the ability to take an inventory of their managed network environment and analyse it for Y2K compliance.

However, Novell is also offering the Y2K Information Ferret tool and Greenwich Mean Time Check 2000 software to address Y2K problems from the server and client level, the company reports.
