Kaz aims for intelligence boost with Intology

Kaz has improved its business intelligence credentials with the acquisition of information management specialist, Intology. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

According to Kaz ACT regional general manager, Michael Blake, the acquisition followed its growing investment and activity in the business intelligence field. The Telstra services arm would gain new intellectual property around organising and extracting value from structured and unstructured data.

"We had partnered with Intology on a number of government accounts," he said. "The acquisition gives us additional and distinct business intelligence capabilities."

This capability would present new cross-selling opportunities to be explored with Kaz's top 500 customer list, Blake said.

The company would also pick up about 20 new customers across the corporate and government verticals.

According to Intology founder and managing director, Ralph Meyen, the company had sought acquisition by a number of companies prior to Kaz.

"The other companies all liked our IP but they were not comfortable risking their business intelligence strategy by acquiring a small company like us," he said. "Kaz is supportive of the SME approach and can provide us with a strong presence in the consulting and services market."

Intology's 12 full-time staff had already been transitioned into Kaz, Blake said, but Meyen would continue to lead the team.
