ASG's $65 million education winner

A new deal with the Victorian Department of Education is ASG's largest customer contract in the southern region to date

ASG Group has scored a lucrative $65 million contract with the Victorian Department of Education (DET) providing IT services support and infrastructure management.

The contract will extend over a five-year term and totals $49 million. A four-year extension option will then take the contract up to $65 million.

ASG general manager southern region, Rob Bild, said the contract was its largest in the southern region. The services integrator participated in an extensive tender process which commenced last August.

"It further cements our reputation as a prominent provider of IT&T services and it certainly reinforces that we are Australia's largest Oracle and PeopleSoft services provider," he said. "It grows the base in Victoria significantly and doubles the size of our business revenue-wise."

Bild said the proposal was made up of several components. ASG would initially provide a human resources management systems upgrade using Oracle's PeopleSoft solution. This would be followed by ongoing application management services. Both would be underpinned by an infrastructure managed service.

Bild said it would also work with IBM through its datacentre facility, located in Ballarat.

DET's incumbent providers were Kaz and Red Rock Consulting.

"We are certain they put forward proposals and we know that we dislodged them. We don't officially know who else we were up against," he said.

The deal follows a string of recent wins for ASG. In March, it secured a multi-million-dollar deal with the Victorian Metropolitan Ambulance Service.
