PowerTel calls on eServ for smart network services

eServ has signed a telco software deal with PowerTel to provide Intelligent Network (IN) services.

Under the contract with PowerTel - a regional broadband telecommunications services provider - eServ will deploy the IN locally for the first time, focusing initially on 13/188 services, the company said in an ASX statement.

IN is a technology allowing telephone networks to configure and activate high-volume telecommunications services, which eServ said enables users to reap more value from their networks and cut operating costs.eServ's IN rollout at PowerTel comes hot on the heels of a BSS project win earlier this month with Comindico, as well as several international rollouts to 14 carriers in Europe and North America.

Rating eServ's IT services as highly sophisticated, PowerTel director of engineering and operations Ron Sinnes said the vendor would provide the platform for a wide range of new services in the future.eServ's Advanced Calling Services (ACS) platform includes services like Calling Card and VPN, and local or mobile number portability can be deployed from the modular ACS structure.
