Internode overhauls FTTH plans

ISP announces price cuts, quota boosts and speed increases

Internode has announced price cuts, quota boosts and a doubling of upstream speeds for its Internode Home Fibre services in a bid to increase take up of its fibre offerings.

The move has seen the ISP cut its 100 megabit per second (Mbps) FTTH plan with a 100-gigabyte (GB) data quota by $65 to $119.95 a month.

Data quotas across its fibre plan range have been increased including a 10GB data boost to its entry-level $49.95 plan up to 15GB.

Up speeds on its entry-level 25Mbps fibre plans have been doubled to 2Mbps, while up speeds on its 50Mbps plans have been doubled to 4Mbps. Up speeds on 100Mbps plans have increased from 5Mbps to 8Mbps.

Three new fibre plans with 200 GB data quotas and priced between $129.95 and $159.95 have also been announced.

Detailing the changes, Internode product manager, Jim Kellett, said the Fibre-to-the-Home market was becoming increasingly competetive as more and more homes considered it to be a viable broadband option.

“We are also starting to see increased business utilisation of our fibre services, so we’ve made important changes to our range of SOHO plans such as introducing static IP addresses and offering quite radical upstream speeds, such as 16 Mbps for our 100 Mbps SOHO plans,” he said in a statement.

Earlier this month Internode said it will offer production IPv6 services to consumers by the end of 2010 as it continues to gain experience through a trial of the next generation Internet Protocol.
