ANZ lauches all-you-can-eat Wi-Fi on east coast

ANZ Bank has renewed sponsorship of a government Wi-Fi roll-out on all four Sydney ferries on the Manly-Circular Ferry route and Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station in exchange for exclusive advertising rights.

The move is part of a resurgent three-month campaign that will deliver free unlimited Wi-Fi in 105 cafes across the central business districts of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane over the next three months, sponsored by the bank.

An ANZ spokeswoman said provider Café Screen will employ content filters on the cafe Internet connections but not restrict users to time or download limits.

The Sydney ferry Wi-Fi service, operated by Breeze Tech, will be limited to 30-minute or 30Mb sessions.

Up to 3500 users accessed the bank’s free Wi-Fi during its 2009 campaign.

ANZ would not disclose the value of the deal, and said design and management would be handled by the providers.

It follows the launch of a free advertising-sponsored Wi-Fi service on the privately-owned Manly Ferries last month.
