Julia Gillard saved from web parody?

Sydney designer snaps-up PM domain

Australia’s newly-crowned Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, seems to have been rescued from parody by a quick-thinking Sydney advertising designer who created juliagillardpm.com.au late last night.

Production designer, Mitch Hawkins, bought the domain name an hour after news agencies announced the leadership spill which saw former PM Kevin Rudd lose his post in an uncontested Labor Party vote.

A mirror site kevinruddpm was created by comedian Anthony Ackroyd which features spoof videos of the look-a-like former PM.

Meanwhile Twitter has suspended the juliagillardpm page, and a user has created KevinRuddExPM.

Computerworld has contacted Hawkins but had not responded by the time of publication.

More to come.
