South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics opened its revamped app store on Thursday, with over 3,000 applications aimed at smartphones and feature phones.
The company doubled the number of apps available and made changes to the site to increase ease-of-use, it said in a statement. LG also ensured the site has more applications focused on feature phones instead of smartphones.
By the end of this year, LG will start offering apps made to be used with Google's Android mobile software, the company said in a statement. Currently, apps on the market are for Windows-based phones.
"With demand for Android-powered phones set to surge worldwide, the LG Application Store is well placed to enhance consumer’s mobile experience," the company said in a statement.
The revamped LG Application Store opens in 23 markets Thursday and the company expects to expand to 33 countries by the end of this year, including France, Germany, Italy, Iran, Spain and the U.K.
