BOSTON (01/25/2000) - U.S. chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) will announce the appointment of a new president and chief operating officer this afternoon, the company said in a press release.
The announcement will be made in a press teleconference at 2:15 p.m. Pacific time; the call-in number for the teleconference is +1-416-641-6668. AMD Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jerry Sanders will be on the call.
AMD appointed Atiq Raza as president and COO last May. Raza had previously been AMD executive vice president and co-COO along with Richard Previte. At the time of his promotion to the president slot, AMD said that he would also continue his role of chief technology officer.
However, Raza unexpectedly quit in July of last year, barely two months into his new and existing roles at the chip maker. He had been seen as the heir apparent to Sanders.
