In brief: FedEx appoints CIO APAC

Former MD of technology services moves to Hong Kong to take up new role

FedEx managing director of technology services, Alison Dack, has been promoted to vice president of IT and chief information officer of the FedEx Express Asia Pacific region.

The promotion comes four years after Dack initially joined the company in her former role. She will succeed Linda Brigance, who will take on the vice president of IT role for global clearance at FedEx subsidiary, FedEx Trade Networks.

Dack took on the role at the beginning of the month, and is based in Hong Kong.

“Technology has and will continue to play a critical role to FedEx business and remains a strategic competitive advantage for the company,” Dack said in a statement. “We will continue to develop IT-enabled, value-added service features to ensure every FedEx experience is unique and outstanding.”

FedEx has continued to boost its technological presence, rolling out cloud printing services from HP across its FedEx Office stores. It closed its bricks-and-mortar Kinko’s printing stores in Australia in 2008, citing poor profits and market presence.

The transportation and logistics giant was also recently embroiled in a data breach when a package containing 130,495 patient records from the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York went missing.
