A wrap of the local industry’s job appointments

Clever Communications/BigAir

Scott Carter, managing director of fixed wireless operator Clever Communications (ASX:CVA), has signalled his resignation in anticipation of a forceful takeover of the company by rival operator BigAir (ASX:BGL).

Carter's resignation, effective 1 March, precedes the off-market takeover, which commenced 23 December last year. The rival operator reported in an ASX announcement that integration planning between the companies had been completed and the takeover was progressing as planned.

Carter has held the role at Clever Communications since August 2007, forming part of a history spanning at least 12 years in Australian telecommunications, beginning with the launch of the Orange mobile brand in the country by Hutchison Telecoms.

Clever initially bid to take over BigAir in January 2009, but was blocked by the rival's board.

Acronis

Cloud security provider, Acronis, has appointed Karl Sice as its new general manager to oversee business direction in the Asia Pacific region.

The role will require Sice to oversee go-to-market strategies and maintaining the company’s small to medium business presence in the local marketplace.

Previously, Sice has worked in management roles for Gartner, Sun, American Express and Dell, throughout Australia, Asia and the US.

Sice said he was looking forward to working with the team in the higher end of the corporate market and government and public sectors.

Commenting on the appointment, Acronis President APAC, Bill Taylor-Mountford, said Sice’s profile was a fit for the position and the company’s business direction.

Bravura

Financial software provider, Bravura Solutions (ASX:BVA) has appointed Steve Bingle as sales executive for Asia.

Bingle brings to the role approximately 30 years experience throughout the Asia Pacific region in consultancy and as a frontline banker and will be responsible for driving new business throughout Asia.

Bravura Group chief executive, Simon Woodfull, said he was looking forward to having Bingle on the Bravura team.

“He has a very strong track record of forging enduring client relationships with many of the region’s leading global and regional financial services organisations, bringing real value to his clients and leading significant business growth,” Woodfull said in a statement.

Prior to joining the company, Bingle was vice president of financial services software company ValidSoft.
