Careers spotlight: Hires and Fires

Webroot's Heunemann moves to UK VoIP provider

Natterbox

UK-based hosted voice provider Natterbox has appointed Charles Heunemann as its new managing director for the Asia Pacific region.

The appointment, effective from March, coincides with the company’s expansion into Sydney and will make Heunemann responsible for sales, marketing and operations throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Japan and the remaining Asia countries.

“As a seasoned professional with a great depth of industry knowledge and an intimate understanding of the Asia Pacific region, Charles is a key appointment for us,” Natterbox chief executive, Neil Hammerton, said in a statement.

The role follows a three-and-a-half year stint as managing director at security company Webroot. Heunemann brings to the role 29 years experience in the IT sector including 15 years in IT security, time on the board of the Australian Internet Industry Association (AIIA) and Encassa developers of CoDefender Identity Theft Protection.

“Now is an exciting time for Natterbox to enter the APAC market as we are already seeing a marked decline in fixed line services with users migrating voice to mobile and over data services,” he said. “The reform of telecommunications regulations over 2011 will contribute to increased competition and choice for businesses and consumers; as the National Broadband Network becomes the predominant infrastructure it will significantly contribute to the telecommunications industry doubling in size to around $80 billion by 2020.”

Resolve

Australian IT provider Resolve has appointed Chris Morison as it news chief executive, effective this week.

Morison succeeds Gabrielle Van Meurs, who is retiring from her full time position but will continue as a non-executive director assisting with strategy and business development for the company.

“Chris Morrison is an experienced executive with a very successful track record, both locally and internationally and is the right person to lead the business,” Van Meurs said in a statement.

Morison brings at least 18 years’ experience in various management and business development roles across the industry, and has held a number of senior roles and executive positions at different organisations including HP, Siebel, UCMS and Exigen.

Resolve has recently had a number of customer wins including the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
