Former Intelsat executive moves to CTO role with NewSat

Canon

Imaging company Canon Australia has appointed Takanobu Nakamasu as its new managing director for the Oceania region.

Nakamasu moves into the role from a group executive position with Canon in Tokyo and will be responsible for leading the company’s short and longer term direction.

He succeeds Kenji Kobayashi, who held the position of MD for almost three years and resigned to take up a role with Canon as MD of Canon France.

Commenting on the appointment, Nakamasu said he was eagerly anticipating his role in the company as it plans to make the transformation to a full services and solutions provider in business imaging.

Prior to his local role, Nakamasu spent at least 20 years with Canon Europe.

NewSat

Australian satellite service provider NewSat (ASX:NWT) has expanded its executive team, appointing David Ball as chief technology officer.

Ball will be charged with providing leadership across strategy, planning and operations of the company, as well as aiming to improve satellite technology to deliver the best quality and service to its customers.

“David has extensive experience in the satellite industry, having held executive roles at Intelsat, a multi-billion dollar satellite company,” NewSat founder and chief executive, Adrian Ballintine, said in a statement.

“His knowledge, leadership and expertise will assist in further improving the delivery of NewSat’s core business to our blue chip customer base, and will be invaluable in the launch of Jabiru-1 and Jabiru-2. David will also focus on ensuring our shareholders get the best value from our recent acquisition of seven orbital slots.”

Prior to the role, Ball was managing director of Intelsat Corporation and brings to the role 25 years of global satellite experience in sales, marketing and engineering teams.
