The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has appointed Alan Patterson as its new chief executive officer, effective as of 24 May.
Patterson left his role as CEO of the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) to take up the position, succeeding former ACS CEO, Bruce Lakin, who stepped down in April.
Commenting on his appointment, Patterson said his first priorities would include engaging with members and helping to progress the certification of ICT professionals.
ACS president, Anthony Wong, said Patterson’s experience in working with governments, combined with his background in accreditation and professional development, will be beneficial in his new role.
“Alan is a highly qualified senior manager who possesses an excellent understanding of the challenges and opportunities that impact professional bodies,” Wong said in a statement. “Alan has been charged with implementing the ACS Strategic Plan. His leadership will help drive key initiatives that benefit our members and assist the ACS in advancing the certification of ICT professionals in Australia.”
Patterson has worked in both the [artnid:382182|not-for-profit|new]] and healthcare sectors, as well as in accreditation and training organisations.
