ACSF joins govt program to foster R&D

The organisation has joined the government's Enterprise Connect, Researchers in Business program

The ACS Foundation has joined the ranks of the Federal Government’s Enterprise Connect, Researchers in Business program (RiB), with a focus to foster software development and research projects of small to medium ICT companies.

The organisation, which encourages private and public sponsorship of ICT education and research, will join cooperative research centres and universities in the aim to commercialise new products and services.

The foundation will also cover some of the 50 per cent of salary costs up to $50,000 for a researcher to work onsite within a business for Australian SMEs, with turnovers of more than one million dollars and provide them with access to business advice, advisory services and a network of resources around technology and business practices.

As an “Eligible Research Organisation”, the ACSF can review and submit RiB applications for ICT companies, and facilitate the commercial arrangements between the enterprise and the researcher.

ACS Foundation executive director, John Ridge, said the program was a great step in increasing the research capacity of Australian business structures and culture.

“SMEs need to know this fantastic opportunity is sitting there waiting for their application," Ridge said in a statement.

"Interested ICT businesses, researchers and students can use the ACSF as a single point of access to this excellent initiative.”

The Enterprise Connect program targets SMEs across manufacturing, resources technology, clean technology and defence sectors as well as the creative industries and those located in and/or servicing remote Australia.
