Telstra has joined the raft of other Australian telcos to announce pricing and availability for the iPhone 4S ahead of its launch on 14 October.

The telco has had customers “registering interest” for the device but has now opened pre-orders for the smartphone via the Telstra website.

The telco’s plans appear to be the most expensive yet, with pricing for the handset starting at $59 per month on a 24 month plan, with an additional monthly fee (starting at $4 depending on the device capacity) for 1.5GB of data.

For $0 upfront, plans start at $79 per month for 2GB of data up to $129 for 3B of data allowance.

Optus plans for the device, without an upfront fee, also start at $79 but offer 3GB of data, with the most expensive plan from the telco costing $99 per month for 5GB of data.

Vodafone's $0 upfront plans start at $49 for 1.5GB of monthly data and go up to $79 for 3GB.

Vodafone has also launched pre-orders for the device on a range of 12-month plans for both business and consumer customer ahead of the phone’s launch.

Apple has revealed that it received more than 1 million pre-orders for the iPhone 4S in 24 hours, smashing the iPhone 4's record of 600,000 pre-orders.
