NBN Co releases details of small business services

NBN Co says retail service providers will be given greater flexibility in how they construct plans for small businesses

NBN Co has released new small business services which it believes will encourage retail service providers to more effectively target Australia’s SMBs. The services will offer speeds up to 40Mbps.

NBN Co head of product development and industry relations, Jim Hassell, said the new high-speed services would allow telcos and service providers to design plans that had the potential to be more cost-effective for business customers.

“Using NBN Co’s new services, telcos and ISPs have potentially more flexibility in putting together packages that give small businesses access to big business functionality at affordable prices, ” Hassell said in a statement.

“For example, there are small design and video production companies that need to send large files to their customers, which are paying for services designed for much bigger businesses.”

NBN Co will release the pricing for its services in a few weeks’ time offering incremental pricing tiers for service providers.

With more pricing options, telcos and ISPs will be able to tailor more internet services plans to small businesses and this means more opportunity for small businesses to choose a service that best meets their needs.

In related news Optus has released the pricing for of its NBN internet plans. Optus' entry level plan starts at $39.99 a month and is available to current Optus postpaid mobile customers, or $49.99 for those without.
