The Department of Infrastructure and Transport will shortly commence a new panel for the Provision of IT Solutions Services to replace its existing panel, due for expiration in February.
According to the department, the new panel will include providers able to offer ICT contract personnel on an 'as-required basis' in order to assist the Department to deliver IT Services; and those able to offer specialist services through the engagement of an organisation to conduct specific activities.
Specific services include applications development for the design, development, enhancement, testing and implementation of Microsoft .Net, SQL, Office Sharepoint, SAP and Oracle.
With the department’s introduction of Prince2, it would also seek project management skills as well as business and systems analysis skills, and IT end user training.
Skills around geospatial information systems, and systems infrastructure support to manage the department’s HP Server and Storage environment based on SQL Server, VMware and EVA6400 Storage would also be required.
The department also said ICT security skills, such as carrying out threat risk assessments, and providing advice on disaster recovery and business continuity would also be needed.
As the department facilitates in-house systems development and the acquisition of third party applications systems integration skills would also be in demand – as would Web services and systems and database administration skills.
“The Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Department’s public website and approximately 25 other hosted websites,” departmental documents read. “These websites are critical to the Department’s information dissemination and services may be sought to support these systems.
“The Department hosts a number of business systems both for internal and external users. These systems are critical to the delivery of Departmental services and most of them are implemented in n-tier architecture with databases as data store. The companies/parties must be capable of providing adequate administration system skills specialising in Microsoft technologies to ensure the continuity of these systems.”
