AusCERT organisation celebrates 20 years

A trip down memory lane to 1993 was followed by comedians, beat boxing and recognition

Fireworks lit up the sky as the AusCERT organisation kicked off its 20th birthday to coincide with the annual awards night.

The AusCERT awards are designed to recognise Australian professionals who work at the frontline of information security.

After a look back at 1993 when the organisation began, delegates were entertained by comedian Adam Spencer, beat boxing and a ventriloquist.

The AusCERT award winners were:

Individual Excellence in Information Security: Andrew van der Stock

Van der Stock was recognised for his contribution to updating the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) security guides.

Organisational Excellence in Information Security: Brisbane City Council ICT Risk, Security & Compliance Unit

The Brisbane City Council unit was selected for demonstrating significant business value. It has received substantial resources to fulfil its mission.

Best Security Initiative: New Zealand Internet Task Force

The NZ Internet Task Force was recognised for making a tangible difference to the security of every NZ resident by bringing together security experts from government, law enforcement and telecommunications.

This was followed by the SC Magazine award winners.

Gatekeeper Award: Imperva SecureSphere

Protector Award: Sophos RED

Mobile Security Solution: Good for Enterprise

Innovation: Exploitable Labs

Product of the Year: McAfee Enterprise Security Manager

Vendor of the Year: Sourcefire
