PayPal has expanded the reach of its digital wallet’s in-store payment capabilities with new partnerships announced today.

A partnership with Australian take-away ordering website EatNow will allow customers to order food from 2000 restaurants using the PayPal mobile app. EatNow is owned by Catch Group.

Also, PayPal announced integration with hospitality point-of-sale provider, OrderMate. As a result of the partnership, OrderMate’s network of 1000 cafés, bars and restaurants will be able to accept PayPal payments. PayPal has existing POS partnerships with Kounta, MICROS, Island Pacific and Vend.

PayPal also recently added to its mobile app support for Beat the Q, a Sydney startup that enables people to order coffee through the Web and skip the queue at the café.

The PayPal in-store mobile payments system has higher transaction fees than other payments but provides vendors with more information about their customers, according to small businesses that tested the system.

PayPal said it has 5 million active Australian accounts and support for payments at 90,000 Australian merchants online and offline.

“The way we differentiate from our competitors is our maniacal focus on creating consumer solutions that harness the power of connected networks, solving real customer pain points and consistently looking for opportunities to simplify the lives of our customers,” said Hill Ferguson, Vice President of Global Product at PayPal.
