NewSat signs $5 million teleport contracts

Australian satellite company reveals contracts across Middle East, Pacific

NewSat has announced $5 million worth of contracts the Australian satellite company signed in Q1 FY14. The teleport contracts cover Australia and the Pacific and the Middle East.

They include a sub-contractor arrangement to help provide satellite services for the US Department of Defense's PACOM theatre. The contract is worth up to $2.4 million, if Defense takes up four one-year option terms.

NewSat has also signed $2.1 million in new contracts to provide satellite communications for US personnel in the Middle East and "multiple new contracts" with systems integrators for satellite comms in resources and construction sectors across Australia and PNG.

The contracts “are further building blocks to cement a great start to the year for NewSat,” the company’s CEO, Adrian Ballintine, said in a statement.

“Supporting US government agencies in the harsh and remote Middle Eastern region is testament to our ability to provide secure services and quality support in a mission critical environment.

“We are also pleased to see a significant increase in confidence in the Australian market, through a positive rebound in the number of new resource related projects and expansions on the horizon. This has resulted in some new contracts and a healthy sales pipeline for the future”

NewSat earlier this year announced revenue of $39.3 million, an increase of 5 per cent, and new profit of $10.4 million.
