ASX-listed system integrator Data#3 (ASX: DTL) has signed a multi-year IT outsourcing deal with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC).
The company would not disclose the total figure but said it was a “multi-million” contract.
Under the outsourcing arrangement, Data#3 will provide service desk, desktop, server and infrastructure support along with network management, voice over IP and telephone services.
According to BAC's general manager of assets, Krishan Tangri, this is the first time the company has signed an IT outsourcing contract.
“Our expertise is in operating a multi-faceted airport environment so we’re pleased to partner with a services provider. This will allow us to better focus our resources on setting and implementing IT strategy for the airport.”
In July 2013, BAC announced that it chose virtualization technology by Cisco, EMC and VMware to improve operational efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.
Data#3 group general manager Laurence Baynham said the company has had to focus on increasing its corporate customer base due to a downturn in spending by the Queensland government.
“It is pleasing to win a significant contract that aligns with our areas of investments in outsourcing and cloud services,” he said in a statement.
In August 2013, the company reported a 5 per cent revenue slide to $771 million for the financial year (FY) ended 30 June 2013. This compared to revenues of $811.3 million in FY 2012.
Data#3 attributed the drop to decreased product revenues as a result of changes in the way some software licensing contracts were transacted. Product revenue decreased 7.2 per cent to $639.6 million, while services revenue rose 8.1 per cent to $130.1 million.
