Sydney telecommunications broker Housley Consulting has been hired by the New South Wales government to help state agencies with telecommunications service contracts.
Housley Consulting will review pricing, vendor offers and help agencies save money when buying telco services.
The appointment was made as part of the NSW government’s ICT Strategy. This involves a transition away from providing ICT services to buying services from suppliers.

NSW minister for finance and services Andrew Constance said he wants agencies to buy telco goods and services at the “best possible price.”
“This will increase competition amongst government suppliers and create opportunities for small and medium businesses,” he said in a statement.
According to Constance, it has provided savings of $3.3 million for NSW taxpayers with a review of its whole-of-government telecommunications contracts. In May 2013, the NSW government replaced its telecommunications procurement panel with a two-tier scheme called ITS 2573, which involved over 80 suppliers.
