Kazeon gets cozy with Google

Kazeon has delivered on its deal with Google to open up its IS12000 information classification index up to Google searches.

Kazeon business customers would use the Google Search Appliance to search for information across their enterprise storage silos.

Google wants to proliferate use of its Search Appliance and is doing so by making it possible for 'owners' of an independent software vendor, like Kazeon, to write code using the OneBox enterprise API to make their data visible to Google. When customers subsequently use the Google Search Appliance the ISV's data sets are now visible to the search engine.

In effect the ISVs write plug-ins (OneBox code modules) for Google's search appliance. Kazeon is doing this so that its index of a business' data and classifications of the data types can now be queried by a Google search. Previously the search would simply not have 'seen' the Kazeon information store.

Google has an impressive list of ISVs supporting its Search Appliance this way: Business Objects, Cognos, Information Builders, Oracle, Salesforce.com, SAS and now Kazeon. The Search Appliance is a Dell PowerEdge server bundled with Google search software.

Existing enterprise search suppliers such as Autonomy and Vivisimo enable users to have search results exclude unwanted and redundant hits through data classification and search filters. Google is hoping to build up comparable technology through using an 'eco system' of ISV partners.
