Black Friday deals from Target, Best Buy on iPhones, iPads

For Black Friday 2014, Best Buy knocking down prices on iPhone 6, various iPads; Target bundling its gift cards with Apple smartphones, tablets

Black Friday 2014 ads from big retailers Best Buy and Target have leaked (well, the retailers have pretty much revealed them), and it looks like you can save on Apple products including iPads and the iPhone 6.

Best Buy will offer its deals online on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, as well as on Friday. In-store purchases can be made after 5pm Thursday and starting at 8am on Friday.

Among the offers:

*$100 off all iPad Air 2 models (16GB, 64GB, 128GB), which means they start at $400.

*$75 off all iPad mini 3 tablets, which means they start at $325.

*16GB iPhone 6 for $100 with a 2-year contract and use of a trade-in gift card (so you need to trade in your old iPhone, in store only).

BestBlackFriday.com's Eric Jones notes that the iPhone 6 deal is weaker than the Sam's Club offering leaked last week, which offers the same price but without trading in your phone. Alas, the Sam's Club deal is only good on Nov. 15.

Best Buy isn't all about Apple of course. Among the Android deals is a $1 Samsung Galaxy S5 with a 2-year activation.  The phone regularly costs $200 with the 2-year contract.

As for Target, it's bundling its own gift cards in an attempt to move various Apple devices. For example:

*Get an $80 Target gift card when you buy an iPad mini with 16GB, WiFi model, for $250.

*Get a $140 Target gift card when you buy an iPad Air 2 with 16GB storage and WiFi connectivity, for $500.

*Its iPhone 6 offer is $179 for the smartphone ($20 off), plus a $30 Target gift card. Requires a 2-year carrier contract.

Target allows online shopping on Thanksgiving Day and opens its stores at 1AM on Friday, Nov. 28.

Apple typically keeps a pretty tight rein on retailers' promotions, but they often find a way around these restrictions by bundling phones with gift cards and other goodies.

Apple itself, not known for marking down its products frequently, has gotten into the habit of offering Black Friday price breaks itself. It usually can be counted on to knock about $100 off Macs and $50 off iPads (it's less clear what it might offer in the way of iPhone savings).

We'll be rounding up some of the more eye-catching Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals for this season (here's a sampling of last year's deals).
