Telstra has restored ADSL and wireless data services following outages this morning, but is still suffering problems with an array of online applications.
The affected online applications include Bigpond Online Catalogue, MyAccount, 24x7, LiveChat, Telstra Prepaid Activations and Boost Prepaid.
A Telstra spokesman acknowledged the problem with the applications. “We are working on restoring services as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience.”
The outage occured after an outage at Telstra's data centre in St Leonards, NSW, the spokesman said.
"During planned works on the power system in parts of the St Leonards NSW Data Centre, power was switched over to the standby unit which unfortunately failed," he said.
"While the main power source and the majority of services were restored as quickly as possible, there are still an number of applications that we are working to restore.
We are still investigating why the backup power source failed."
He said this morning’s issue with ADSL and wireless data are now resolved.
“All services have now been restored and customers will need to restart their modem in order to connect. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers this morning.”

The Telstra outage occurred the same day that a technical flub at Optus resulted in the clocks of Queensland customers shifting forward an hour.
