Former NAB enterprise security risk manager, Damien Manuel, hired for role

Blue Coat has hired former National Australia Bank (NAB) enterprise IT and security risk manager, Damien Manuel, as its Australia and New Zealand CISO. The role is a newly created one.

Based in Melbourne, Manuel will be helping Blue Coat’s customers with their information security architectures. He will also head up the vendor's A/NZ security consultant team.

Manuel worked at NAB for over two years. He is currently national branch director of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA).

Commenting on the appointment, Blue Coat Asia Pacific vice president Leigh Warren said Manuel was hired because of his track record for innovation.

"Damien will work closely with Blue Coat’s local team to help us serve our clients by driving the security agenda in A/NZ. He brings the management and technical expertise that is absolutely essential for success in today's market,” he said in a statement.
