Fujitsu to provide new IT equipment for Soldier On

Organisation had been working with limited connectivity and old PCs

Fujitsu Australia and Solider On have announced a three year partnership whereby the vendor will help fund new IT equipment for the not-for-profit veteran support organisation.

Solider On reintegration and recovery manager Robert Pickersgill said it has been working with limited connectivity and “struggling with outdated equipment.”

“It means rather than spending vital funds on IT, we can now fund support for wounded men and women instead, which is a great outcome for all involved,” he said in a statement

More than 200 veterans and family members visit the Robert Poate Centre run by Soldier On in Canberra every year. The injection of technology will see the team working more effectively and assisting many more veterans, he said.

Fujitsu Australia has an existing Distributed Computing Centralised Services (DCCS) contract with the Department of Defence.

“Through our long-term relationship with the Department of Defence we have experienced first-hand the important role that Defence personnel play for our country. We are proud to be supporting this worthy cause, which will give our staff the opportunity to participate in activities that will make a difference to our veterans,” said Fujitsu Australia CEO, Mike Foster.

In 2013, the Department of Defence extended its DCCS contract with Fujitsu for an additional three years.

The DCCS contract, which began in 2010, is worth approximately $170 million and includes provision of service desk, service catalogue, IT service management (ITSM) tools support, processes, and resource based tasking for server and desktop, email and groupware.
