University of Newcastle plans Windows 10 rollout

10,000 devices to run Microsoft's newest operating system

The University of Newcastle plans to roll out Windows 10 across its campuses. The rollout encompassing the university's campuses is a world first for the operating system, according to Microsoft.

The deployment will involve some 10,000 devices.

The university conducted a pilot of the operating system involving 200 devices.

The University of Newcastle has around 40,000 students across 11 campuses, including UON Singapore.

The university intendeds to have 3000 devices running Windows 10 by the start of the next university, according to a statement from Microsoft.

The remaining 7000 devices will be running the OS before the end of 2016.

The university has also migrated to Office 365.
