Infosys will be providing finance, accounting and human resources services to over 6000 NSW government employees from its office in Parramatta, West Sydney over the next six years.

The vendor will provide the back-office services – under the GovConnectNSW brand – to the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, Service NSW, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Public Service Commission, NSW Treasury and the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

NSW minister for finance, services and property Dominic Perrottet said the office opening marked a milestone in transition of back-office services away from shared services provider ServiceFirst.

ServiceFirst delivers services including human resources, ICT, analysis, financial reporting and compliance to 7500 customers from more than 40 NSW government agencies.

GovConnectNSW services delivered from the centre will go live from 14 December, with ServiceFirst to cease operations. A second GovConnectNSW facility run by Unisys is set to open in Rhodes in early 2016.

“This centre will be the engine room that not only gives our public servants the modern technology tools they need to work effectively, but also delivers tens of millions in efficiency savings for NSW taxpayers,” said Perrottet.

According to Perrottet, budget savings over six years are estimated at $13.4 million, with ongoing annual savings of up to $19.5 million in subsequent years.

Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee, said the centre was already employing 65 staff with the potential for up to 200.

In June, the NSW government selected Infosys to manage its core back-office business processes of payroll, HR and financial services.
