Yahoo7 targets local app developers with mobile ad offering

Yahoo7 launches local version of Yahoo’s Mobile Developer Suite

Yahoo7 — the Australian joint venture between Seven West Media and Yahoo — has released a new SDK targeting mobile app developers.

“Yahoo’s got a range of tools for developers and the mobile developer suite this is bringing them all together into the one SDK,” said Yahoo7’s director of technology, Paul Russell.

The Mobile Developer Suite bundles Flurry app analytics with an advertising marketplace.

Internationally, Yahoo launched the Mobile Developer Suite in early 2015.

“As an app developer you can use just one SDK,” Russell said. “You’re able to get your analytics and you’re able to have your ads; either as a consumer of ads, you can put ads in your app, or you’re able to advertise within apps.

“In Australia we’re launching the sales element of that, so we’re actually selling that to Australian advertisers — Australian advertisers can buy ads in that marketplace.”

“Our new Mobile Developer Suite leverages the strengths of Yahoo technology to help local developers measure, improve, and monetise their apps to drive growth,” said Jonathan Steel, Yahoo7’s director for business development and partnerships.

Flurry is used in some 730,000 apps around the world, according to Yahoo.

Yahoo purchased Flurry in 2014.
