NSW’s Roads & Maritime Services hunts for new CIO

Joe Attanasio departing RMS

New South Wales’ Roads and Maritime Services has begun the process of recruiting a new chief information officer.

The organisation’s current CIO, Joe Attanasio, is departing to pursue other career opportunities, an RMS spokesperson said.

Attanasio has held the top IT role at RMS for just over three and a half years. He joined the state government agency from Australian Customs. Prior to Customs, Attanasio worked in the private sector.

“Numerous achievements were delivered under his leadership, including an improved IT program delivery, Service NSW digital integration and numerous technology tools to support an activity based working environment,” an RMS spokesperson said.

RMS has said it is seeking a “progressive and highly commercial IT leader” to fill the vacancy left by Attanasio’s departure. Recruitment is being handled by Oceans Group.

The agency is seeking a CIO with exposure to digital transformation in complex environments with significant levels of outsourcing.

The state government has made significant investments in digital transformation, including earlier this year appointing the NSW’s first chief information and digital officer. The state government has continued to drive its digital agenda through Service NSW.
