HP has opened a display and demonstration centre in the Sydney CBD, at 20 Martin Place, where channel partners and resellers can bring their customers to view and experience HP’s personal computing and printer products.

HP says the purpose of its multi-million dollar investment in the centre is “to engage customers and partners with solution-focused briefings specific to their business and personal needs.”

The centre is modelled on the Melbourne Experience Centre that HP opened last year, which it says has been a great success. “Well over 2,500 customers and partners have visited the MEC, and 950 meetings and events have been held there, directly contributing to tens of millions of dollars of new business,” HP said.

However, the Sydney facility is the first in the region to carry the title of ‘Customer Welcome Centre’ (CWC), which it shares with an HP facility at its HQ in Palo Alto.

“The CWC showcases the depth and breadth of HP’s product and solution offerings, and is designed to be easily adaptable so that we can demonstrate an end-to-end solution, showing how it would work in a customer’s ecosystem, as well as vertical solutions that extend across product sets,” HP said. “This means we can have a conversation that is focused on a solution that harnesses HP innovations across the board, as opposed to a singular transaction.”

Robert Mesaros, managing director of HP South Pacific (Australia and New Zealand), said the investment in the new centre had ben significant, and was one component of the company’s increased investment in the Australian market.

“We have invested more to bring innovation to life in this country than we have many of years,” he said. “Testament to that is the Melbourne Experience Centre. It was so successful that we decided to replicate it in Sydney. We have invested in our brand: you will have seen more advertising from us in this market.”

HP says the centre can be booked by customers and partners for meetings, events, workshops, seminars and training.

Its location, 20 Martin Place has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star Office rating, from the Green Building Council of Australia. This, says HP, represents 'World Leadership' in environmentally sustainable building practices and was a significant factor in its decision to locate the centre in the building.

20 Martin Place is a 1970s office building that, according to the builder was “stripped back and rebuilt to include a new high-performing, environmentally responsive facade system, setting a world-class standard for energy efficiency in a commercial building.”
