Oracle Touts Rapid Net Procurement Deployment

MUNICH (02/08/2000) - Business software vendor Oracle Corp. yesterday announced a series of product bundles designed to help companies rapidly put in place Internet-based procurement systems.

Available immediately, Oracle's consulting division is offering what it calls Internet Procurement Solution Bundles -- a mix of software, services, training and support -- in packages that can be implemented in a minimum of 45 days, according to an Oracle statement. The bundles are designed to help companies automate the purchasing process, from sourcing to procurement and payment.

Prices were not immediately available, but in its statement, Oracle promised the products and services will be implemented in a pre-determined time frame with a "predictable implementation cost."

Users can choose from four different bundles:

-- FastForward Procurement, which can be implemented in 45 to 60 days, provides end-to-end automation of the procurement process. Three predefined electronic catalogs can be purchased from Oracle partner Requisite Technology to give online ordering access to computer equipment, office supplies and industrial supplies-- Touchless Procurement, which Oracle promised will take 60 to 90 days to put in place, adds further integration with suppliers to the previous package, according to Oracle. It gives suppliers access via the Web to a company's ordering system, for example. Another optional feature is enhanced workflow automation.

-- E-Commerce Procurement, will take 90 to 120 days to implement, and adds to the Touchless package the ability for customers to communicate their production procurement needs with their customers in real-time, according to Oracle.

-- Internet Procurement, which according to Oracle was designed to be the most flexible offering, provides many of the previous elements, but with additional components such as the ability to integrate the package with non-Oracle ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. No deployment time frame was given for this package.
