Lexmark has come out trumps at Recognition in IT Achievement (RITA) 2000, winning an award as the best printer vendor for technical support in Australia.
Lexmark's general manager for services, Peter O'Meara, said he was particularly chuffed with the award because it was chosen by the channel - those who sell and recommend Lexmark printers to the end user.
"It is fantastic that the channel recognises the efforts of our technical support team," he said. "The team handles well over 5000 calls a month from customers of all levels, from our most basic inkjets used at home to large corporations and their vastly more complex installations."
The company has recently launched the OptraImage T610sx - a 15 page per minute multifunction printer for small workgroups that combines network printing, copying and faxing with network colour scanning features.
The OptraImage T610sx allows users to fax digital and paper documents, scan documents in colour to user workstations and e-mail addresses and storage servers. The printers are available now and will retail for around $5035.
Lexmark has also launched its Document Distributor software for use with the OptraImage range. The Lexmark Document Distributor automates and streamlines common document management tasks such as file converting, archiving, copying and distributing documents.
The software automates procedures which previously had to be entered manually such as information capture using an optical character recognition (OCR) and e-mail listing.
The software comes in two versions; Lexmark Document Distributor - a base version that comes standard with each printer in the OptraImage range for up to 10 users and Lexmark Document Distributor - Advanced Edition which includes all features from the base edition and adds support for OCR, e-mail and archiving for Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange.
The Advanced Edition retails for around $1562. License agreements for each version of the Lexmark Document Distributor can be upgraded for around $200 per each set of 10 users, with no maximum limit on the number of users.
