Extra Functionality on the Way for R/3, mySAP.com

SAN FRANCISCO (06/14/2000) - SAP AG's R/3 and mySAP.com software will boast additional functionality thanks to a slew of new product announcements from IT vendors and ASPs (application service providers) at this week's Sapphire show in Las Vegas.

Sapphire is the ERP (enterprise resource planning) vendor's U.S. user conference where the company is talking up its R/3 ERP suite and its Net business software mySAP.com.

SAP is working hard to attract more user interest in mySAP.com by aligning with vendors who are creating services and applications that deepen the software' reach in the wireless and Internet arenas.

Some product announcements at Sapphire included:

-- CommerceOne Inc. and SAPMarkets Inc., an SAP subsidiary, announced a joint effort to ship an online marketplace product that will aim to increase business productivity. The suite, as yet unnamed, uses the content, community and commerce properties of the Internet to streamline business processes.

-- IBM Corp. announced free workload analysis software for SAP's R/3 customers.

The software will collect data from a customer's R/3 installation, return the recorded data for analysis to IBM, who will then provide the customer with a confidential workload analysis report. The utility is targeted at SAP R/3's existing customers, who will receive this software as a free add-on.

-- Entrust Technologies Inc. announced enhanced security for mySAP.com users.

The company says a new sign-on service will enable certificate-based authentication, that will help to provide a higher level of end-to-end security for mySAP.com users.

-- iAnywhere Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase Inc., announced TimeTracker for SAP R/3, a customizable product that enables the wireless capture and access of critical job and time data for SAP's CATS (Cross Application Time Sheet) system. By providing mobile capture and access of time tracking data, the software will help automate project management and customer service functions, according to iAnywhere Solutions. The product can also help forecast workloads and track scheduling changes thus minimizing errors and eliminating employee redundancy.
