Westcon joins forces with Sonicwall

Steven Perricone, vice president of worldwide sales for network security vendor Sonicwall, is currently visiting Sydney in a joint promotion with Sonicwall's Australian distributor Westcon.

Perricone is using the visit to enthuse local channel players about Sonicwall's range of Internet security appliances. "Sonicwall has been focussing on markets in Europe, Asia and the US with great success. We have a good record of providing simple, affordable security solutions for the SME market," Perricone said.

"Our products can work either as stand-alone security systems or small outposts that feed back into other security products, like those produced by Cisco and Check Point."Westcon's focus on empowering resellers and integrators to create leverage into SME markets makes it an ideal distributor for Sonicwall's offerings.

Westcon national sales manager John Readshaw predicts that the growth of the SME security market will lead to an increase in "turnkey"-style products that require a minimum of IT expertise for their implementation.

"Ultimately, resellers will have to focus on building credibility into the SME market. As Sonicwall's products are already being used successfully throughout the US, the credibility is already there and resellers do not have to work as hard to sell through to the SME market," Readshaw said.
