National announces global SAP rollout

National Australia Bank will deploy SAP's banking solution across all of its branches worldwide as part of a lucrative deal announced yesterday.

A statement from SAP did not specify the extent of the contract or its value, but sources told Computerworld Today the deal involves approximately 49,000 seats globally.

Kuldeep Kishore, integrated systems implementation programme director at National Australia Bank, said SAP's software would help speed the reorganisation of the bank's business model from a geographic, product-based structure.

He commented: "SAP will enable the National to globally integrate our information infrastructure to facilitate our new customer-centric business model and our aggressive transition into the 'dot.com' marketplace."

Tony Harris, CEO of SAP Australia and New Zealand, added the vendor will partner with National Australia Bank to customise its banking solution - which encompasses its strategic enterprise management, business management, customer relationship management and core banking modules - to align with the National's requirements.
