Fujitsu Siemens Computers Seeks New CEO

PARIS (03/27/2000) - Fujitsu Siemens Computers BV is to seek a new chief executive officer when its two co-presidents step down at the end of this month, the company announced today.

Co-Presidents Winfried Hoffmann and Robert Hoog have led the company through an intensive six-month integration period since it was formed from the merger of Fujitsu Computers (Europe) Ltd. and Siemens Computer Systems on Oct. 1 of last year.

Executive Vice Chairman Tetsuo Urano will act as CEO until a replacement has been found, the company said today in a statement.

"As of April 1, we are beginning our first full fiscal year as Fujitsu Siemens.

The two presidents and the board of management felt that we should have a single point of leadership," said Judith Grindel, company spokeswoman, in a telephone interview.

Neither Hoffmann nor Hoog would be candidates for the new role of chief executive, she said.

"At the moment, the search is to find someone external to take on the role. We don't want a Mr. Fujitsu or a Mr. Siemens, but a Mr. or Miss Fujitsu-Siemens," Grindel added.

Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, in Bad Homburg, Germany, can be reached at +49-6172-188-8330 or found on the Web at http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/.
