CSC Launches Global Web Hosting Initiative

LONDON (03/02/2000) - Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) has launched a Web hosting service for medium- to large-size businesses, the company announced today.

The company is banking on the security features of its software architecture, which works on both Unix and Windows NT operating systems, to set its e-commerce services apart in the fast-growing application service provider (ASP) market, CSC said in a statement.

Dual firewalls, continuous intrusion detection, operating systems that have been "security-hardened" and virus detection software will be part of the global Web hosting service's security features, CSC said.

In preparation for the new ASP service, CSC is upgrading its existing data centers in New Jersey, Delaware, California, Australia and Denmark. The Newark, New Jersey site, which will be completed first, is expected to be fully operational by the end of the second quarter, the company said.

CSC, in El Segundo, California, can be reached at +1-310-615-0311 or at http://www.csc.com.
