Internode introduces 3G WiFi MiFi router

Internet service provider (ISP) Internode has lauched MiFi, a pocket-sized wireless gadget which brings together WiFi and 3G mobile broadband.
Designed by US-based Novatel Wireless, MiFi is a compact WiFi router that derives its Internet access from a single mobile broadband account.
It requires a 3G broadband sim card, and once turned on within range of a 3G signal it has the capability to create a WiFi hotspot for up to five devices.
“It’s a 3G router and an 802.11 b/g WiFi access point that can fit in your shirt pocket,” Internode product manager Jim Kellett said in a statement. “MiFi is battery powered, so it can provide a wireless hotspot wherever you are.”
MiFi runs on Linux, and has a 10 metre coverage range for its wireless network, which is protected by WPA2 security.
The MiFi battery can run for as long as four hours, but it also comes with a power supply and a USB cable for charging.
During its launch, Internode is selling the device for $349, after which the price will go up to $399. It can be purchased for $299 when bundled with a 24-month NodeMobile Data service.
