CSC signs $48 million deal

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) signed a $48 million outsourcing contract with MMI Insurance last week.

The three-year contract begins in March and CSC has promised to deliver a 10 per cent saving on the insurance giant's annual IT expenditure.

CSC's Australian business unit will manage the IT services including mainframe and mid-range computing, desktop, help-desk and network functions for MMI.

The agreement extends an existing relationship between the companies. CSC was previously responsible for maintaining MMI's mainframe and desktop services.

CSC said its selection was based on its potential to deliver MMI immediate and future cost savings. Additionally, the contract includes use-based pricing plans and improved service levels, CSC officials said.
