The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) has deployed a customer relationship management (CRM) and web content management system for its Register4 initiative in hopes that researchers and scientists will be given significantly more access to participants for research projects, while maximising their time spent searching for a cure.
Register4, launched last week, is an Australian online community for volunteer breast cancer research participants and operates solely online to reduce administration costs. Since the launch, the initiative has taken over 14,000 registrations.
Speaking to Computerworld Australia, NBCF chief operating officer, Anthony Lowe, said the organisation chose Advanced Solutions International (ASI) to provide the web based solution, iMIS, following a thorough evaluation of the market in 2008.
“We looked at Blackbaud and a number of other vendors and chose iMIS because it has a demonstrated match to our functional requirements, service oriented architecture and browser based by the end of 2009,” Lowe said. “It has a high quality hosting infrastructure based in Australia, good network support, highly mature coverage, support and consulting, and a detailed, thorough and professional product plan.”
The ASI system allows the NBCF to manage the website, record registrations, maintain membership details and a record of interactions with members including, emails, telephone calls and participation in research projects.
“A key feature of iMIS is that the web presence and data are integrated, [and] this means that members can maintain their own data in real time, keeping administrative overheads to a minimum,” he said.
According to Lowe, the implementation of iMIS has resulted in improved management of fundraising supporter data, better reporting of campaign results and reduced business risks through outsourcing the hosting of the NBCF's supporter data
“iMIS has also enabled us to introduce Australia Postbillpay and BPay for fundraising which has improved the efficiency of administrative tasks leading to a reduction in administrative overheads,” Lowe said.
Later this year, the NBCF will conduct a redesign and rebuild of its main website, using the iMIS content management system.
