Apple store goes silent in anticipation of announcement

The online Apple store is down in preparation for the company's planned announcement today.

The homepage reads: "We are busy updating the store and will be back shortly," with a sticky note reading: "We'll be back soon."

Apple has in the past taken down its online store before major announcements.
